Meet the Vendor
Jo Tyrrell of Tattoo’d Home (formerly jo’s vintage goods) sells hometown pride in her popular and unique “St. Louis” signs, crafted with reclaimed wood and architectural salvage. Look for her artful designs, along with a variety of primitive and vintage goods, in booth 36B at The Hill Antique Market.
The Hill Antique Market: How would you describe your vintage merchandise?
Tyrrell: I have a unique brand of artful and earthy vintage goods. I sell primitives and many one-of-a-kind pieces made from reclaimed wood and architectural salvage. I also make salvage “St. Louis” signs made from locally sourced salvage and found items.
THAM: What inspires your interest in antiques?
Tyrrell: I’ve always found beauty in all things old and imperfect. The things in our homes should reflect who we are and what’s important to us. My retail spaces are rustic and earthy and designed to spark ideas for creating warm, relaxed homes full of personality.
THAM: How long have you been selling your vintage treasures?
Tyrrell: I’ve been a vintage dealer for about 12 years, starting with a knack for restyling and curating in my own home.
THAM: Do you have personal collections?
Tyrrell: Of course I do! I collect vintage floral art, both paint and crewel embroidery. I also have quite a few architectural salvage brick anchor flowers. Love those!
THAM: What do you enjoy most about being a vendor?
Tyrrell: I’m super grateful that I get to do what I love for a living. I love many aspects of it, from hunting and gathering to restyling and creating to merchandising in my showroom. But the very best part is the many kindred spirits I’ve been lucky enough to meet over the years.
THAM: What’s your favorite feature of The Hill Antique Market?
Tyrrell: I’ve sold at many of the antique and vintage stores in the St. Louis area, and I can honestly say that The Hill Antique Market is unique in many ways. I love the building and the gorgeous entrance. It really is a lovely shopping experience.
