Meet the Vendor: Jennifer Pass - The Hill Antique Market

Meet the Vendor

Jennifer Pass of Indigo Rustic offers a whimsical, cozy nook filled with colorful vintage smalls and primitive rustic furniture. You’ll find plenty of inspiration while browsing her eclectic merchandise, located in the newly expanded wing of The Hill Antique Market.

The Hill Antique Market: With a backdrop of oversized dramatic doors, your new space in the expanded wing of The Hill Market is wonderfully curated. Tell us about it.
Pass: Featuring primitive rustic furniture and other eclectic, vintage collectibles, I tried to create a space that projects warmth, coziness and a touch of whimsy. The fun for me is putting items together in a creative way to inspire the customer or collector.

THAM: How did you get interested in the antiques business?
Pass: I’ve been drawn to art and antiques for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a household where art and antiques were an important part of life. As a child, I attended antiques auctions with my parents. They collected Early American antiques, folk art and Native American art. I’ve been selling for about 20 years, in a number of local galleries and antique malls. I now sell exclusively at The Hill Antique Market.

THAM: What vintage treasures do you enjoy collecting?
Pass: My personal collections have evolved over the years. Among my favorites are old Iroquois whimsies, colorful beaded items once sold as souvenirs. I’m also drawn to vintage Native American art, whether it be a Navajo blanket, Indian jewelry or a particular type of pottery made in San Ildefenso in New Mexico.

THAM: If being a vendor is a side gig, what else do you do?
Pass: I work at The Hill Antique Market and absolutely love it! I get to help people search for items that bring them joy. I’m a former elementary school art teacher, and I believe children’s art is the best art on the planet. It was such a joy inspiring them to create. I also spend my spare time creating. I’m addicted to the creative process, whether it’s decorating my booth or making a mixed media collage using vintage materials, some of which I sell at The Hill Antique Market.

THAM: What’s your favorite feature of The Hill Antique Market?
Pass: I appreciate the fact that the market is in a very old building which has been lovingly restored for the purpose of selling vintage items. I also enjoy the idea of like-minded people coming together in one place to share their particular vintage passions.
