Meet the Vendor
The booth of vendor Jeffrey Schneider, under the name Surfboard Moderne, is easily recognizable for its magnificent Mid-Century Modern and Danish furniture, lamps, artwork, pottery and more. If you want to create a timeless interior design style, Schneider offers a must-see gallery in Booth 44-45B.
The Hill Antique Market: Do you specialize in particular merchandise?
Jeffrey Schneider: I sell Mid-Century and Danish Modern furnishings because I appreciate the timeless design of this era. Mid-Century was the period of architecture and graphic, industrial and interior design popular during the 1940s to the late 1960s.
THAM: How did you first develop your interest in antiques?
Schneider: Having a background in fine arts and design, I have always leaned towards the simplicity found in modern design. I personally collect a variety of vintage furniture, lighting and dinnerware, and I’ve been selling Mid-Century furniture for about five years.
THAM: Do you have a tip for people interested in buying Mid-Century and Danish Modern furnishings?
Schneider: Do your research.
THAM: What do you enjoy most about being a vendor at The Hill Antique Market?
Schneider: My space is my gallery. When someone purchases an item, it’s an extension of my efforts to find, choose and refurbish the item.
